High School seniors who reside in Greene County are invited to apply for scholarships offered by the Greene County Soil & Water Conservation Club and Greene County Soil & Water Conservation District by Friday, March 7.
There are two scholarships available: The first is a $1,000 scholarship sponsored by Greene Soil & Water Conservation Club; the second, a $500 scholarship sponsored by the Greene Soil & Water Conservation District. The winning senior or seniors will be nominated for state and regional scholarships in the amounts of $3,500 for 1st, $2,500 for 2nd, $1,500 for 3rd, and $550 for each regional winner. All the state and regional scholarships are sponsored by Conservation Districts of Iowa.
Seniors applying must plan to pursue an agriculture, conservation, or natural resources program or degree. This is a wide field and many studies apply (eg, engineers, ag business, agronomy, vet or vet assistant, plumbers, diesel mechanics, electricians, horticulture/landscaping).
